Our story

Wrestling changes lives. Wrestling creates opportunities. That is why we do this.

Future Champions Fund exists to use wrestling to open doors for young athletes: access to training, travel, and the road to college. Wrestling is the vehicle. The destination is a successful life for every young person who walks through our door.

Nobody gets left behind over money. That is what the Fund is for.

Every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Mission statement

Future Champions was built on a belief that has never changed: every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and no one should have to fight for the right environment to become who they are capable of becoming.

Inspired by the life, coaching philosophy, and lasting impact of Coach JD Hawkins, Future Champions exists to identify, develop, and empower young people to become champions in sport, in school, and in life. We believe that success is about more than titles, rankings, and accomplishments. It is about character, discipline, resilience, integrity, and the responsibility to use what we learn to make a difference in the lives of others.

Our purpose comes from understanding that talent alone is not enough. Young people need people who believe in them, coaches who are committed to their development, and environments where they are challenged, supported, and trusted to grow. Every athlete has a different path, and no two journeys look exactly alike. We believe in the importance of having a plan, trusting the process, embracing adversity, and continuing to work even when the road becomes difficult. We will not measure a young person's potential by their circumstances, their resources, or the obstacles they have faced. We will meet them where they are and help them discover how far they can go.

Through athletic training across all sports, academic support, mentorship, psychological and mental performance development, and practical life skills education, Future Champions is committed to developing the whole person. We strive to prepare young people not only to compete at the highest level they can reach, but also to pursue a college education, lead with confidence, take care of their families, serve their communities, and approach life's challenges with purpose. We believe that the lessons learned through sport should carry far beyond competition and become the foundation for a meaningful and successful life.

We place a particular focus on young people facing economic hardship, family instability, disabilities, or limited access to opportunity. Through outreach and partnerships with schools, coaches, and community organizations, we seek out potential that may have gone unrecognized and work to remove the financial, educational, and environmental barriers that prevent young people from thriving. Every participant deserves access to quality coaching, meaningful mentorship, and a safe and supportive environment, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Future Champions is committed to creating an environment where young people are welcomed, respected, challenged, and protected. We believe in collaboration, accountability, and doing what is best for the athlete. We recognize that development requires patience, trust, and a willingness to keep learning. We will work to ensure that every participant has the opportunity to grow without being defined or limited by the expectations, assumptions, or circumstances of others. The physical, emotional, and personal safety of every young person will remain a first priority in everything we do.

At the center of Future Champions is the legacy of Coach JD Hawkins and the belief that the greatest measure of a coach is not simply what an athlete accomplishes, but who that athlete becomes. A coach's influence lives on in the lessons they teach, the confidence they instill, the families they strengthen, and the people who carry those lessons into the next generation. We honor JD by continuing the work he believed in: serving others, demanding excellence, finding strength in weaknesses, never settling for average, and recognizing the responsibility we have to the people who trust us with their future.

Future Champions is more than a training program. It is a commitment to building the environment we believe every young person deserves: one where potential is recognized, hard work is valued, individuality is respected, and people are supported through both success and adversity. We know that the journey will not always be easy. We know that progress takes time, setbacks are inevitable, and the right path is not always the simplest one. But we believe in the process, we believe in the people we serve, and we believe that circumstances do not have to determine someone's future.

Our mission is to develop champions who will carry these lessons forward long after their time with us has ended. We will honor the legacy that brought us here by investing in the next generation, creating opportunities where they are needed most, and ensuring that the values of Coach JD Hawkins continue to live through every athlete, every family, and every life we have the privilege to impact.

Our mission: Potential deserves opportunity
